Manager's preview: Moyes targets three points

David Moyes is targeting victory when Sunderland travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday (KO 3pm).

Just three points separate the sides in the Premier League table with the Black Cats picking up a priceless point against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

But Palace went one step further registering a 2-0 win over AFC Bournemouth, with Sam Allardyce picking up his first three points since taking charge.

The terms must-win, crunch-match and many more have been tossed around during the pre-match build-up, but the Sunderland boss is simply asking for more of the same from his players.

“I think the players have a lot to thank Sam [Allardyce] for – the good work here did here and for making sure they were a Premier League club – but we’ll go there and try to win the game.

“We have to go there and try to get three points; they had a great result midweek but we had a good result in our own way, so hopefully we can go there and get another one.”

He continued: “I think Palace are a dangerous side because they bought expensively in the summer and they’ve bought in January as well – they have exciting players, good players – so they’re trying to build their club up and improve.

“We’re going to have to pick up some big wins in the run-in and we’re going to have to pick up some important points.

“Every point is important for us but picking up three points is even more important, so we need to get wins under our belt.”
