Dream debut: Oviedo on Palace win

Bryan Oviedo was left pinching himself following a dream debut at Selhiurst Park.

The January recruit lined up for the Black Cats for the first time against Crystal Palace, as goals from Lamine Kone and Didier Ndong set the tone for a memorable afternoon.

But the Black Cats weren’t done yet, with Jermain Defoe striking twice before the break to send the traveling red and white army into pandemonium as Palace were well beaten.

Speaking post-match, Oviedo revelled in delight following a debut to remember.

“I’m so happy for the win but we must keep fighting,” said the defender.

“We had a very good game today and in the next few weeks we need more, so we need to keep playing like a winning team and enjoy success when it comes our way.”

He continued: “We have a strong squad and we are very together which you saw today because it wasn’t easy and Crystal Palace have some very good attacking players.

“It’s very important to keep clean sheets and we scored some good goals today, so we will look forward to the next game at home against Southampton.

“Let’s do it again!”
