How's stat?: Opta preview to Leicester

Sunderland face a seismic King Power Stadium clash on Tuesday evening as they take on rejuvenated Leicester City.

A narrow 1-0 defeat against Watford on Saturday, coupled with the Foxes’ win over Stoke City, saw David Moyes’ side slip 13 points behind the champions with nine games remaining.

And the omens fall in the Foxes’ favour heading into Tuesday’s game, with the home side unbeaten at home in the PL against Sunderland (won four, drawn two).

However, the Lads have won on two of their last four visits to the King Power Stadium, with both victories coming in the Championship in 2007 and 2004.

Tuesday’s clash is likely to be decided by two England team-mates, as Jermain Defoe and Jamie Vardy strive to fire their team-mates to victory.

Vardy, 29, has scored three PL goals against Sunderland – only against Liverpool (5) has he scored more.

And the Leicester hitman is in scintillating form scoring in three of his last four games.

Defoe, meanwhile, has netted four goals in his last five top-flight appearances against the Foxes, and the Black Cats need him firing on all cylinders after failing to score in their last five games.

Leicester’s victory over Stoke on Saturday saw Craig Shakespeare become the first English manager to win his first four PL games, with Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola – both six – the only managers to win more.
