Tony Pulis believes it is only a matter of time before David Moyes guides Sunderland up the Premier League table.
The West Bromwich Albion boss has gone head to head with Moyes on countless occasions, with the managerial duo taking charge of 13 English clubs between them since the start of the 1990s.
Both enjoyed success in the Football League during the early stages of their coaching careers, and both mirrored that success in the top tier with Pulis reaching cup finals and securing European football with Stoke City, as Moyes installed success on and off the pitch at Everton before managing Manchester United.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of the Baggies’ trip to Wearside, Pulis hailed Moyes as a 'top manager'.
“I've a lot of respect for David and he's joined a club that has to fight and scrap and work hard to get the points that are needed to maintain Premier League status.
“I don't think he had that at Everton at all. He built and put in place a club that was looking more at the top six than bottom six so this is a new experience for him, but he's a top man, a top football manager and I'm sure he'll get through it.”
