Match preview: Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland

Sunderland’s Premier League season continues on Sunday with a trip to White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham Hotspur (KO 4.30pm).

Unbeaten so far in the top flight, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have made a confident start to the season picking up two draws and two wins in the EPL before suffering a narrow defeat to Monaco in the UEFA Champions League.

Last weekend Spurs cruised past Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium thanks to a stunning double from Son Hueng-Min, with Dele Alli and Harry Kane completing the 4-0 win with their first goals of the season.

Sunderland, meanwhile, will have to dust themselves down following a disappointing defeat to Everton on Monday evening.

The Black Cats matched and often bettered the Toffees during a frantic opening period, but the second 45 minutes belonged to Romelu Lukaku whose 11-minute hat-trick sent Ronald Koeman’s side into the top three.

David Moyes’ side remain without a win in the Premier League ahead of Sunday’s trip to North London, but reinforcements have finally arrived with Jan Kirchhoff making his top-flight return against the Toffees.

Previously besieged by injuries, the Lads also saw new signings Jason Denayer and Didier Ndong make their highly-anticipated debuts on Monday evening, with John O’Shea on the bench after overcoming an injury during the international break.

Lee Cattermole and Steven Pienaar are also back in training with Moyes revealing that both players could feature.

Tottenham Hotspur’s only doubt is former Black Cat Danny Rose who has missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury.
