Preview: Watmore on Arsenal

Sunderland are relishing a return to Premier League action on Saturday according to Duncan Watmore.

The Black Cats return to the Stadium of Light this weekend where they will aim to upset the odds and defeat a Gunners side who could go top of the table with a point.

Last time out in the top flight, David Moyes’ side were denied a point as a cruel twist late on saw Winston Reid snatched three points for West Ham United at the London Stadium.

And although the Black Cats exited the EFL Cup on Wednesday at Southampton, Watmore insists another game is just what the Lads need.

“It’s not the easiest game because Arsenal are a very good team, but after losing you want another game straight away and as fast as you can.

“I think we have to take the game to them and we need to do the right things, and, most important of all, get a result.”

He continued: “The fans – on a Wednesday night – were absolutely unbelievable having travelled the length of the country.

“The lads appreciate it so much and they deserve it more than anyone, so hopefully we can give something back and do it at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.”
