The Big Interview: Adnan Januzaj

safc.com catch up with on-loan Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj who is targeting a return to peak form and fitness over the coming weeks.

Adnan, how are you feeling after making a steady comeback from injury both with the first team and the under-23s?

AJ: “I’ve come off the bench a couple of times and I started for the under-23s earlier this week which was good to help my fitness. It’s good to be playing games again after being out and it will help me find my levels.”

Always nice to score a goal as well?

AJ: “Of course, it’s what I love to do. It was a good goal and it helped the team and hopefully it will lead to me scoring first-team goals as my ambition is to score in the Premier League, so hopefully I can get my chance and take it this weekend.”

How frustrating was the timing of your injury – you seemed to be really settling into your stride?

AJ: “As I said I’ve been unfit because of the injury but now I’ve had some minutes I’m feeling good. It was good to play but you’re right I felt like I was getting into my rhythm at Sunderland so it did come at a bad time, but I’m getting back now and I’ll be on top of my game very soon.”

A lot of games coming up over the festive period so a great chance for you to rediscover your form?

AJ: “There are lots of games over Christmas and every player is needed so we will all get a lot of playing time, and that’s very important for me. We have some big games coming up but they are games we can take points from.”

Do you have a specific aim of what you want to achieve in the coming months?

AJ: “My job is to score goals and create them so hopefully a lot of that. I want to make the fans happy and have a big impact on the team.”

As you said some big games coming up…

AJ: “Leicester City won the league last year but at home it’s a game we should be aiming to win. Just because they were successful last year doesn’t mean we have to put ourselves down, and in any game anything can happen. We will head into the weekend confident and hopefully we can take three points.”

A trip to Swansea City on the horizon as well, so a key couple of games where we can build momentum?

AJ: “We didn’t have a great start to the season but after getting two wins in a row we have a mentality that we want to win every game we play. As a team we want to move up the Premier League table as quickly as possible and hopefully I can help.”
