View from the opposition: Sheridan on Sunderland

John Sheridan has paid tribute to Notts County’s desire and endeavour ahead of tonight’s Checkatrade Trophy game at Sunderland.

The Magpies travel to the Stadium of Light knowing that a win inside 90 minutes will secure progression to round two.

However, while County head to the north east having won just one of their last seven fixtures, Sheridan has highlighted his players character to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Boreham Wood in the Emirate’s FA Cup last Saturday.

And that kind of resilience from his team has also seen County claim seven points from losing positions in league games.

"The good thing about my players is that they will go to the end,” Sheridan told Notts County’s official website. “

We have shown that by coming from behind on a number of occasions so far this season.

"We may not play well and we may not have clicked in the way I would like us to but we definitely have a bit of doggedness and determination about us.”

He continued: "I have good lads in the team who know they are not playing well but they keep going and that is one thing I have got in my side.

"If they are making mistakes they still dig in and that is a good sign."
