Comeback trail: Larsson on return

Seb Larsson was delighted to return to action in Sunderland U23s’ win over Blackburn last week.

The Swedish midfielder completed a planned 45-minute run-out for Andy Welsh’s side and came through with flying colours.

Larsson has been putting in the hard yards to return to action well ahead of schedule after picking up an injury during the summer.

Now he's targeting an early return to first-team duty having not previously played since the summer.

“It’s great to be back in action and get that first 45 minutes under my belt,” the midfielder told safc.com after the game.

“I felt good out there and it’s brilliant to be back. Hopefully I can push on from here now.

“It’s always tough when you’re out. I’ve been working very hard to get back as soon as possible and hopefully I’m not too far away now.

“That first game back is always a milestone in your recovery.

“Now it’s about getting that sharpness and match fitness.”
