How's stat?: Your Opta guide to Sunderland v Leicester

Sunderland entertain Leicester City on Saturday when they will be hoping to defeat the Foxes for the first time since the 2001-02 season.

The Lads have secured two draws but fallen to two defeats in the last four meetings between the two sides, but they remain in form picking up two wins from their last three games despite felling to a narrow defeat to Liverpool last time out.

The Foxes are susceptible to falling behind in the league and they’ve spent more time (417 minutes) trailing this season than they did in the entirely of the 2015-16 campaign (391 minutes).

And Claudio Ranieri’s side have yet to lead away from home at any point this season in the top flight.

Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy dazzled last year with the free-scoring duo firing Leicester to the title, but they’ve struggled to connect this season with Mahrez finding Vardy with just two passes in their last eight games.

However, Vardy did net three times against the Black Cats last season and against no Premier League side has he scored more goals.

New signing Islam Slimani has settled well and added to their firepower scoring 5 goals in ten appearances.

And, talking of goals, Jermain Defoe is also firing on all cylinders netting seven goals in 14 appearances.

Harry Kane (19 goals) is the only Englishman to score more goals than the 34-year-old (18 goals) during 2016, with no English player netting more Premier League goals than Defoe during the current campaign.

Defoe has had a hand in a higher share (75%) of his team’s league goals this term than any other player.

And with 150 on the board he will be hoping to add to his tally when the Foxes face the Black Cats.
