On Saturday the 34-year-old strolled past the Hull City backline – and Les Ferdinand in the all-time rankings – to net his 150th Premier League goal, drawing level with former Liverpool and Manchester United man Michael Owen.

The majority of Defoe’s goals have come from inside the box – 128 – with 22 coming from range, most notably his 30-yard screamer against Newcastle United in the Wear-Tyne derby.
