Six years ago today Barclays Premier League leaders Chelsea were stunned at Stamford Bridge as Sunderland secured a convincing 3-0 win.
Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic escaped a red card for fouling Danny Welbeck but he was powerless to prevent the Black Cats’ opener, as Nedum Onuoha burst past three defenders and fired the ball into the net.
Asamoah Gyan added a second to complete a free-flowing Sunderland move, before Welbeck rubbed salt into Chelsea’s wounds with a cool finish to capitalise on Ashley Cole’s poor backpass.
