Eurovision: International round-up

Republic of Ireland - John O’Shea

John O’Shea has been named in Martin O’Neill’s provisional squad ahead of Euro 2016.

The 35-year-old has made 110 international appearances, however with two warm-up friendlies against Netherlands and Belarus to come first, the former Manchester United defender will be hoping to stay fit and embark on the campaign in France.

Sweden – Sebastian Larsson

With Slovenia and Wales to play before Sweden head to the European Championships, Seb Larsson has been named in the provisional squad.

Alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Larsson will be keen to add to the 82 international caps he's already won for his country.

Italy - Fabio Borini & Emanuele Giaccherini

Fabio Borini and Emanuele Giaccherini have been called up into Antonio Conte’s provisional 28-man squad alongside the likes of Daniele De Rossi, Stephan El Shaarawy and Lorenzo Insigne.

Ahead of the Euros, Borini and Giaccherini will be hoping to make the final cut and will no doubt have a chance to impress when the Italians host Scotland and Finland.

Wales - Adam Matthews

Adam Matthews has been included in Chris Coleman’s provisional 29-man squad ahead of the European Championships in June.

The right back, who has been on loan at Bristol City this season, will be hoping to play some part in the Welsh side that will travel to Sweden next month in preparation for their Euros opener against Slovakia.

Scotland – Steven Fletcher

Steven Fletcher has been called into Scotland’s squad ahead of their two international friendlies against Italy and France.

The 29-year-old has scored eight times for his country in 23 senior appearances and after Gordon Strachan’s side narrowly missed out on qualification to the Euros, Fletcher will be keen to keep up his fine scoring form for Scotland which saw him score seven goals in the qualification process.

Netherlands – Patrick van Aanholt

Patrick van Aanholt has been selected in the latest Netherlands team as they prepare to face John O’Shea’s Republic of Ireland before taking on Poland and Austria.

The left back’s last international appearance came in March 2016 when he came off the bench and featured as the Netherlands overcame a one-goal deficit to defeat England 2-1.

England U21 - Duncan Watmore and Jordan Pickford

Academy graduates Duncan Watmore and Jordan Pickford have been named in the young Three Lions squad for this month’s Toulon Tournament.

Watmore and Pickford, who both featured in Sunday’s final match of the season at Watford, will now travel with England to face Portugal, Guinea, Paraguay and Japan.

There is also the potential they could play a fifth game if Southgate’s team finish top or second in the group.
