Pre-season: Robson making most of trip

After making his first team debut in the final match of last season youngster Tommy Robson is keen to make the most of being included in the club’s pre-season training camp in Austria.

Robson started in the final day draw at Watford and was part of the travelling matchday squad on a number of occasions throughout the 2015-16 campaign.

Following a busy first day in the club's training camp, Robson told safc.com he had really enjoyed the first few sessions.

“It’s been really, really good,” he smiled. “I wasn’t expecting it to be this hot but I’m enjoying the training and the sessions are a real good workout for us.”

The fitness circuits out on the training pitches are in temperatures of almost 30 degrees, with the players participating in a number of different strength and conditioning activities as well as running and small sided games.

“It’s very intense out there; the training games are harder than the actual running in that heat,” the 20 year-old added.

The visit to Austria is Robson’s first pre-season experience with members of the senior squad and the defender is enjoying the chance to work alongside the players.

He is joined by other youngsters including Lynden Gooch, Josh Robson, Max Stryjek, Ethan Robson and Josh Maja, who are all on their first pre-season trip with the first team. “I feel it’s going really well,” Robson continued.

“All the players have made me feel comfortable and I’ve been made to feel welcome.

“It’s also good that there are a lot of the young lads here on this trip, players I’ve come up through the ranks with, so it’s nice for us all to be able to work together with the senior players and experience it all.

“The main aim of this trip is to build fitness and after the first couple of session you can already feel it.”
