Preview: Sunderland v FCO Dijon

Sunderland continue their pre-season tour of France with a match against FCO Dijon on Wednesday evening (KO 6pm local time).

Based in Evian-les-Bains, the Black Cats enjoyed an impressive start to their time in France securing a 2-0 win over Stade Nyonnais on Monday evening at the Stade Camille-Fournier.

Duncan Watmore scored twice – both goals coming from the penalty spot – as David Moyes selected a youthful starting XI in his first game since taking charge of the club.

The new Sunderland boss is expected to make changes for Wednesday’s game with the club’s regular first-team players expected to be recalled, meaning the many travelling supporters are likely to catch a glimpse at the likes of Younes Kaboul, Wahbi Khazri, Fabio Borini and many of their other heroes.

Jan Kirchhoff, who is yet to feature in pre-season, could play a part, as could John O’Shea and Seb Larsson who have returned to the club following their Euro 2016 exploits.

Dijon, meanwhile, will be out to impress and they will be fuelled by confidence and momentum following their promotion to Ligue 1 last season.

Managed by Olivier Dall'Oglio, Dijon finished second during the previous campaign thus gaining automatic ascendancy to France’s top tier, and they’re likely to pose the biggest test for the Black Cats in their pre-season so far.
