Beekeeper: Honeyman on training camp experience

George Honeyman is loving every second of his time at Sunderland’s pre-season training camp in Austria.

The 21-year-old made his Premier League debut on the final day of last season at Watford and was part of the matchday squad on a number of occasions throughout the 2015-16 campaign.

Honeyman was then included in the club’s 10-day pre-season training camp in Austria and speaking to safc.com he revealed he is learning so much from being around seasoned professionals.

“It’s my first pre-season trip with the senior players so I want to make the most of it and take all of it in and make that step up,” he said.

“You learn so much from just watching them and training alongside them, it’s a great experience.”

“I’ve been working closely with Jan (Kirchhoff) and Billy (Jones), but all of the players have been really sound and I get on with everyone,” he continued.

“You get to chat with everyone and take bits of advice on board.

“It’s been really good so far; I feel I came back in good shape and I think that helped me get started so I could hit the ground running when pre-season got underway.

“I’m already feeling the benefits of the schedule that the have coaches put together and that’s how you want a pre-season to be.”
