“It was a good test and I was happy on personal note because I played my first 90 minutes of the new season,” said Jones. “It’s going to be a good week and we have a great facility here with some great games coming up.

“When you hear the team are in the third tier, which you don’t know too much about, you wonder what they’re going to be like, but to be fair to them they made it tough and it was a really good game.”

He continued: “Some of the lads who played 90 minutes on Saturday played and as you would expect in pre-season you’re playing games in a fatigued state which makes it that much tougher.

“But it was a really good test and exactly what we needed at this stage in our preparations.”
