View from the opposition: Mourinho savouring festive fixtures

Jose Mourinho is hoping to not come unstuck by Sunderland for a second time on home soil.

Two years ago the Black Cats produced one of the biggest shock results in Premier League history as they came from behind to end Mourinho’s 78-game unbeaten run at Stamford Bridge.

It was a seismic result for Sunderland as they went on to secure their top-flight survival at the expense of Mourinho’s blushes.

However, now Manchester United boss, Mourinho believes his side have turned a corner as they look to extend their winning streak to five games.

With high hopes of keeping the heat on the top four, the Special One confessed at his pre-match press conference that the festive period is one his players are well prepared for.

“The busy period is for some clubs, not for everyone. If you analyse clubs, the fixtures are chosen to give rest for some and to create problems to others.

"But we are used to it because we're in the Europa League and that is a competition that creates more difficulties - we know that, Southampton know that and Tottenham will find out.

“It’s a difficult job, but it’s easy to feel at home, easy to feel good at the club, easy to feel that the club wants to progress and that the people want to be happy again,” he continued.

“I felt good immediately, I’ve had five or six months here and have felt right at home so, for me, it was easy.

“Expectations are high, results are up and down and we are in a position where we don’t want to be. I have passion for my new work. I’m feeling really happy here."
