Manager's preview: Moyes targets three points

David Moyes is targeting one thing and one thing only this weekend – three points.

The Sunderland manager discussed Saturday’s trip to Swansea City at length during his pre-match press conference on Friday morning, sharing his thoughts on a tantalising match-up while also providing the latest team news.

Swansea boss Bob Bradley pinpointed the threat posed by Jermain Defoe while previewing the game, urging his side to baton down the hatches and thwart the prolific frontman.

And ahead of the game Moyes echoed the American’s sentiments.

“They’ve given us a real chance and when you have forwards who can score you’re always going to have an opportunity,” said Moyes.

“We’re fortunate that we’ve got that in Jermain and Victor is also adding to it, so that’s a big part about making sure we stay in the Premier League.”

He continued: “The key for us this weekend is to win the game – if it gets us out the bottom then so be it but the job is to win – and try to build on what everything we’ve done at the moment.

“We’re getting better and the players are improving, I can sense it, but it doesn’t always guarantee you wins, but it does guarantee that we’ll head into the game with confidence.

“We’ve got a lot of belief at the moment that we can win games, and we have to go and show that.”
