Jack Rodwell has started running but is likely to miss the festive period, David Moyes has revealed.
The midfielder is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and hasn’t featured since the end of October when Arsenal faced the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light.
Speaking at his pre-Chelsea press conference, Moyes revealed that he doesn’t expect Rodwell to return to action for another ‘couple of weeks’.
And he might not be the only player to miss Wednesday’s clash against the Blues, with Moyes holding his cards close to his chest.
“We’ve got a couple of injuries and a couple of players are going to miss the game which has added to it a little bit.
“It will make our squad and our numbers tight, but nevertheless we had a squad which was tight and small in numbers in recent weeks and we got results.
“No, I’m going to keep that because I don’t want give Chelsea any more of an advantage if I can,” added Moyes when asked if he could reveal which players could miss out.
“Jack is doing some running but he probably won’t be ready for another couple of weeks.”
