Forza Borini: Fab targets Chelsea upset

Former Blue Fabio Borini is once again out to remind Chelsea what they’re missing when they travel to the Stadium of Light on Wednesday.

The Italy international has scored against the Blues on four occasions – all of which were for Sunderland – since leave Stamford Bridge in 2011, including the equaliser in last season’s 3-2 comeback win.

Following a long-awaited return to training, Borini was an unused substitute on Saturday as the Black Cats tasted defeat against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

But speaking to safc.com, the Italian explained why the Lads will head into the game fuelled by belief.

“I always seem to enjoy playing against Chelsea and my scoring record against them is pretty good.

“I want to keep that going and hopefully we can break their ongoing win streak – it has to end one day so why not Wednesday.”

He continued: “I know Antonio Conte very well from my time with the national team and although they didn’t have the best start they’re now playing really well.

“They are moving like a Conte team and working hard like he always demands of his players, and you saw their resilience against Man City – they went a goal down and still won – so they will never give up.

“Last season we never gave up and against Chelsea we got an unbelievable win. It’s a day that I’ll always remember because the atmosphere was incredible and it was a brilliant comeback.

“We always believed last season and it’s the same this year, so let’s go out there and do it again.”
