Didier Ndong started his career in Tunisia with Club Sportif Sfaxien where he won the Ligue Professionnelle One in 2013.

During his time at the Stade Taïeb Mhiri the midfielder was managed by three-time European Cup winner Ruud Krol.

As well as Krol, who was capped 83 times by Netherlands and named in the 1974 and 1978 FIFA World Cup all-star teams, NDong was also coached by former Manchester City defender Hatem Trabelsi

When describing Ndong’s playing style, FC Lorient manager Slyvain Ripoll said the following: "He is a complete player who can play offensively or defensively in midfield. He can provide a cutting edge and has a great character and personality".

NDong played alongside Sunderland centre back Lamine Kone during his time with Lorient.

Last season he made 38 appearances for Lorient in all competitions, becoming a key player while scoring two goals including the opener in a 3-2 win over AS Monaco.

Born in Lambarene, Gabon, the midfielder has made 18 appearances for the national team since making his debut at the age of 18.

He is an international team-mate of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who the Black Cats went up against in pre-season in Austria.

NDong won the U23 Africa Cup of Nations with Gabon in 2011.
