Djilobodji: I'm going to enjoy it

Papy Djilobodji is aiming to bring joy to Wearside.

Sunderland’s newest recruit signed on the dotted line on Friday penning a four-year deal with the club, and speaking to safc.com he revealed his desire to make the fans happy with results, a lot of points and a lot of fight.

Djilobodji, 27, also explained how manager David Moyes played a key role in his arrival from Chelsea, as well as previewing next weekend’s Premier League opener at Manchester City.

"I’m so happy to join Sunderland and I believe we can do something this year,” said the defender. “Sunderland is a big team and a big club with big fans, so we will do our best to give them what they deserve.

“The coach called me yesterday and I was so happy; he said he wanted me to come and work with him at Sunderland and I was delighted.”

He continued: “Premier League football is nice and I liked it when I was young so now I’m here I’m going to enjoy it.

“We need [the supporters] and we need them all season but we will try and give them a lot of results, a lot of points and a lot of fight, and I hope they will be happy this year.

“We’re going to prepare for the Manchester City game now and hear the advice the coach is going to give us to get the three points.”
