Moyes: Premier League is unique

David Moyes is thoroughly enjoying life as Sunderland boss.

The Glaswegian was introduced to the media on Monday morning after taking charge of the Black Cats’ pre-season tour of France, talking transfers, life on Wearside and much more.

Sunderland face their final pre-season outing on Friday evening taking on Borussia Dortmund in Austria, and speaking to safc.com the 53-year-old admitted it is great to be back in the thick of it.

“This is my first day at the training ground,” said Moyes. “I went to Rotherham to watch the game and then we flew out the next morning, so we’ve been in France for the last week and I’ve really enjoyed being with the players.

“It’s great to get back out on the grass again and it was a great place we stayed in with some good games, so I’m really getting to know them.”

Moyes also revealed his excitement ahead of the Premier League season, explaining why England’s top tier is exactly where he wants to be.

“I’ve been in Spain and whatever we say Spain have got the best teams, but the Premier League is what everyone wants to watch because the level of all the teams and the competitiveness is hard to get anywhere else in the world.

“There is a great group of managers in the Premier League and I think that’s excited people as much as players, so from that point of view I want to be part of that group and challenge myself against them.”
