Loan watch: Coates scores

Adam Matthews – Burton Albion 1-2 Bristol City

Adam Matthews was an unused substitute as Bristol City secured a dramatic stoppage-time win over Burton Albion.

Tammy Abraham – on loan from Chelsea – opened the scoring with Tom Naylor levelling in the 88th minute, but five minutes into added time Abraham struck for a second time to wrap up three points for the visitors.

Seb Coates – Sporting Lisbon 2-0 Maritmo

Seb Coates took centre stage as Sporting Lisbon started their campaign with a 2-0 win over Maritmo.

The on-loan Sunderland defender opened the scoring with 20 minutes on the clock, losing his marker before powering a header into the net.

Fulham’s Bryan Ruiz added a second with 60 minutes played to ensure a winning start for Sporting.

Will Buckley – Norwich City 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Will Buckley came off the bench as Sheffield Wednesday held Norwich City to a 0-0 draw at Carrow Road.

Both sides started with a win last weekend and Alex Neil’s Canaries almost took the lead when Sam Hutchinson struck his own crossbar, with the Owls edging the second period as Gary Hooper was denied late on by Michael McGovern.

Former Black Cat Steven Fletcher also came off the bench for Wednesday.
