Januzaj: The first interview

Adnan Januzaj is aiming to bring goals, assists and happiness to the Stadium of Light.

The Belgium international moved to Wearside on a season-long loan on Friday afternoon, with his Sunderland debut coming just 24 hours later as he came off the bench against Manchester City.

Just 21, Januzaj burst onto the scene during the 2013-14 season under the management of David Moyes, making his top-flight debut in September 2013 before scoring twice against the Black Cats on his first start.

And after being reunited with Moyes, the winger revealed what he is hoping to bring to Wearside.

“My job is to score goals and assist goals,” said Januazaj. “The fans come to the stadium to enjoy football and watch players that make things happen, so I want to be one of those players and make them happy.

“David Moyes was key to me coming here and I appreciate the opportunity because I want to show people what I can do.”

Januzaj also expressed his thoughts on Sunderland’s opening-day defeat against City, hailing the team’s work ethic while revelling in the excitement of being back on the big stage.

“Everything was done really quick; I met up with the team yesterday and played in the game today, and it was an unlucky game for us because we played well and worked hard for each other.

“It was a great feeling to play especially against such a big club, and although it was not easy I think we did really well."

Stay tuned to SAFSee on Monday as we catch up with the 21-year-old on his first day at the Academy of Light.
