Weekend Loan Watch

by Stuart Vose

We look back on final day of Football League season.

Several Sunderland players rounded off loan spells elsewhere as the Football League season came to an end over the weekend.

Danny Graham signed off by playing the full 19 minutes of Middlesbrough’s thumping 4-1 away win at relegated Yeovil.

The striker made 18 appearances for Boro, scoring six goals.

In League One, Billy Knott made his 18th appearance for Port Vale as they drew 0-0 at Peterborough.

Knott has enjoyed a busy season, playing 41 games across spells with Wycombe and Vale.

And there was heartache for Jordan Pickford, whose Carlisle side suffered relegation to League Two.

Nearly 30,000 fans turned out at Molineux to see champions Wolves run out 3-0 winners against the Cumbrians, who ended the season five points short of safety.

John Egan played 90 minutes as Southend ran out 2-0 winners over Burton Albion, who they will also meet in the League Two play-offs.

The win ensured the Shrimpers finished in fifth position, level on points with Albion, and nine short of Rochdale in the final automatic promotion place.

Meanwhile, both Connor Oliver and Scott Harrison started as Hartlepool ended their season with a 2-0 home defeat to Exeter.

Over in Spain, Alfred N’Diaye featured in Real Betis’ 3-2 defeat at Almeria.
