Altidore, Larsson and O'Shea star for countries.

Jozy Altidore and the United States continued their World Cup preparations with a 2-1 victory over Turkey on Sunday evening.

Fabien Johnson and former Fulham forward Clint Dempsey bagged goals in either half to ensure victory, before Turkey grabbed a consolation goal from the spot in the 90th minute.

Sunderland’s John O’Shea played a full 90 minutes for the Republic of Ireland as Martin O’Neill’s men held Italy to a draw at Craven Cottage.

The defender turned in a solid display as the Italians failed to break down the Republic’s resolve.

Ireland had a number of chances to win the game trough Anthony Pilkington and Stephen Quinn, however, the game was marred by an injury to Riccardo Montolivo.

The Blues’ skipper was stretchered off in the 15th minute and it’s though the midfielder could now miss the World Cup.

Elsewhere, Sebastian Larsson’s Sweden, who were without talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, were dominated by Belgium at the Friends Arena in Solna.

Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku were on target for the Belgians as the side continued to serve notice as the ones to watch at this summer’s World Cup, following their 5-1 rout of Luxembourg.
