Poyet picks his XI.

Gus Poyet has named his side ahead of Sunderland’s Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal.

The only change the head coach has made from the Black Cats’ last league outing is including Santiago Vergini in place of the suspended Wes Brown, who is serving the second game of his ban.

There is no place for Lee Cattermole, who started in last weekend’s FA Cup with Budweiser win over Southampton, as Liam Bridcutt starts in the middle.

Carlos Cuellar is also in the squad as a substitute after being sidelined with a hip injury for three months.

Former Black Cats loan star Nicklas Bendtner is on the bench for Arsenal, whist the hosts will be without record signing Mesut Ozil for today’s game.

Sunderland:  Mannone, Bardsley, O'Shea (c), Vergini, Alonso, Johnson, Ki, Bridcutt, Colback, Borini, Altidore.

Subs: Larsson, Gardner, Celustka, Giaccherini, Cuellar, Scocco, Ustari.

Arsenal:  Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Arteta, Rosicky, Wilshere, Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud.

Subs: Fabianski, Jenkinson, Flamini, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gnabry, Sanogo, Bendtner
