“It’s a big big challenge,” the former Leeds United and Brighton coach conceded. “However, it’s a challenge I’m really excited about.

The Uruguayan is tasked with taking charge of a team that has picked up one point in their first seven league games and two Capital One Cup victories at the Stadium of Light.
“I need to address the problems quickly, we - the team - need to get better and pick up points – the sooner we get that first league win the better.
“It’s my job to have very good communication with the players and for them to understand the way we need them to play football. There has to be good understanding and trust.
“We need to commit as a group and all work together – players staff and fans, we need to be strong together.”
