Seb hoping for more home comforts

Midfielder reflects on midweek goal and looks forward to City game.

Seb Larsson is hoping his first strike of the season in midweek will be a catalyst for more progress in the goals column.

The midfielder scored what proved to be the winner in a 2-1 home win over Southampton as Sunderland booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.

Now the Swede is getting set to face Manchester City this weekend and says the victory was an ideal way to respond to a league defeat at Hull.

“To get on the scoresheet was great as it’s been way too long in between goals for me recently,” Larsson said.

“That’s something I’m hoping to improve on – at least that’s the first step and hopefully there’ll be more to come.

“Jozy [Altidore] picked up the ball in a good area, attacked their defence and laid it off perfectly – it wasn’t the most difficult goal but it’s always nice to score.

“It was important to bounce back.”
