Young keeper sent off for England U19s.
Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was sent off as England U19's drew their opening group game of the UEFA U19 European Championship Elite Round.
Pickford was dismissed after just seven minutes as Noel Blake’s side were held 1-1 by Georgia in Bornem.
The Washington-born stopper was deemed to have denied a clear goal-scoring opportunity before Giorgi Pantsulaia punished the dismissal by converting the subsequent free-kick.
However, the Young Lions rallied and levelled matters through Crewe Alexandra’s Max Clayton after 38 minutes.
Georgia went close to winning the game two minutes from time as Teimurazi Markozashvili rattled the crossbar.
But England held out for what could turn out to be a valuable point ahead of their game with Belgium on Sunday afternoon.
