Keeper set to face former defensive compatriot.
Simon Mignolet says he will be pleased to see old colleague Michael Turner when Norwich visit Wearside this weekend.
Turner, who spent three seasons at the Stadium of Light, will return to the north east for the first time with the Canaries after moving south last summer.
It will be good to see Michael back...he did a good job while he was here
- Mignolet on Turner
The former Hull man regularly lined up in front of keeper Mignolet, with the pair playing two campaigns together.
“It will be good to see Michael back,” Mignolet said. “He did a good job while he was here.
“We got on well and as a goalkeeper you always have a good connection with your centre-backs.
“Michael is playing regularly at Norwich and I didn’t expect any different. He is a very good player.”
Meanwhile Mignolet has backed current colleague Steven Fletcher after the striker netted in last week’s defeat at QPR.
Fletcher now has 11 goals for the season – three more than last season’s top scorers Stephane Sessegnon, Nicklas Bendtner and Seb Larsson.
“We all know Steven can score a goal and last week will be good for his confidence,” he said.
“He is a very good finisher and we see that every day in training. I’m sure he’ll score some more goals before the end of the season.”
