Ahmed Elmohamady’s Hull City closed the gap on Championship leaders Cardiff to just one point after a 5-2 victory over Birmingham City.

Elmohamady (pictured) provided two of the five Tigers goals as the North Yorkshire side won their fourth consecutive home game.

Connor Wickham played 45 minutes of Sheffield Wednesday’s home defeat to Billy Davies’ revitalised Nottingham Forest.

Forest won 1-0 to end the Owls’ eight-game unbeaten run and move within four points of the play-offs.

Elsewhere, Ji Dong-Won played the full game for Augsburg in the German Bundesliga outfit’s 1-0 win over Werder Bremen.

Augsburg won back-to-back league games for the first time this season and move five points clear of their nearest rivals, Hoffenheim, in the fight for survival in the German top flight.

Meanwhile, Adam Reed played the final 15 minutes as Portsmouth ended their 23-game winless run with a 2-1 victory at Crewe Alexandra.

Jordan Pickford played his second game since joining Alfreton Town last week; the Reds drew 1-1 at promotion-chasing Wrexham as Nicky Law’s side moved six points clear of the relegation zone.
