Factfile: Jozy Altidore

All you need to know about Sunderland's newest recruit.

-              Born in Livingston, New Jersey on 6th November 1989.

-               His full name is Josmer Volmy Altidore

-              Began his youth career at the IMG Soccer Academy in Florida.

-              Capped ten times at youth international level by the USA.

-              Made 60 caps for the USA senior team, scoring 17 goals.

-              Joined New York Red Bulls in 2006 and scored 16 goals in 41 games.

-              Joined Villarreal in 2008 and made six appearances, scoring once, before moving to Xerez in the Spanish Segunda Division to gain first team experience.

-              Altidore never made an appearance for Xerez due to injury and joined Hull City on a season-long loan in 2009.

-              The American scored two goals in 30 games at the KC Stadium before returning to Spain.

-              He added a further 11 appearances to his Villarreal tally at the start of the 2010-11 campaign before joining Turkish side Bursaspor.

-              Altidore scored once in 11 games for the Turkish Premier League side before leaving Villarreal and joining AZ Alkmaar.

-              He scored 20 goals in 52 games in his first campaign in Holland as AZ lifted the Dutch Cup and qualified for the Europa League.

-              Last season Altidore was one of the top scorers in Europe with 31 goals in 41 games for AZ.

-               Currently leading scorer in the CONCACAF World Cup 2014 qualification group with three goals.
