French defender officially completes move.
Sunderland have completed the signing of defender Valentin Roberge on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old has penned a three-year deal on Wearside after his contract with Portuguese side CS Maritimo expired last month.
Roberge is primarily a centre-back but can also play on the left side of defence.
Born in Montreuil, France, he began his career with Guingamp, making 28 league appearances before moving to Paris Saint-Germain.
Roberge, who stands at 6’1”, made 31 appearances for the French giants’ B side before moving to Aris FC of Greece, where he spent two years.
He joined Maritimo in 2010, signing a three-year deal, and was a regular for the Portuguese club, playing 99 games plus nine in the UEFA Europa League.
