Defender hoping to keep top-10 bid rolling.
John O’Shea says Reading will be clamouring to build upon their recent good form on Saturday.
The Royals mounted a dramatic late comeback on Wednesday night as two goals from Adam Le Fondre secured a 2-2 draw against Chelsea.
The result moved Reading out of the bottom three as Aston Villa dropped below the safety line on goal difference.
O’Shea says Reading manager Brian McDermott will see home games as the key to his top-flight survival bid but feels Sunderland will travel south in good heart and capable of continuing their bid to climb into the league’s top 10.
“We’re hoping to build on our good run,” he said. “It’s going to be a tough game but one we’re more than capable of winning.
“They had a tough game against Chelsea and they’ll go into the game full of confidence on the back of that result.
“It’s a massive game for them, they’re at home and they’ll be targeting home games to pick up points and move up the table.
“We had a comfortable victory over them in December but it’s always different playing them away from home. If we can get a result there it’ll be great for us. “
