Manager reveals early injury news.
Martin O’Neill is hoping that Danny Rose’s injury won’t keep him out of action for too long.
The defender limped out of the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal with a hamstring injury after pulling up while chasing a ball.
Rose returned from a spell on the sidelines last week but O’Neill is hoping the on-loan Spurs man will be back in the side soon.
“It’s a bit of a hamstring injury, but I’ve just spoken to the physio who doesn’t think it’s as serious as the one before,” he said.
“That’s encouraging but we’ll see how he is in the next few days.”
Meanwhile O’Neill backed striker Danny Graham after the £5m striker was afforded an excellent reception on his home debut.
Graham came off the bench in the second half and the Sunderland boss says the frontman is champing at the bit to get going.
“I think he’ll be fine,” he explained. “He’s desperate to do well and performed very well considering the length of time he was on the pitch.”
