Loan men set for action

Elmohamady ready for Rams; Reed returning north.

Two Sunderland players are likely to feature in the Football League tonight with Ahmed Elmohamady and Adam Reed both set for crucial matches for their respective teams.

Elmohamady’s Hull City need just a point to return to second place in the Championship when they welcome Derby County to the KC Stadium.

City are back on home turf after two successive away games and went down 1-0 at Brighton in their last outing.

Meanwhile, the visitors are without a win on their travels since mid-December.

Adam Reed’s Portsmouth make the 650-mile round trip to Hartlepool in a clash of League One’s bottom two clubs.

The game has extra significance for Reed’s Portsmouth with Guy Whittingham’s men hoping to avoid a record tenth consecutive defeat.

Hartlepool, meanwhile, have rounded into form with boss John Hughes describing tonight’s game as a “cup final”.

Pools have taken seven points from three games and could move to within nine points of safety with a victory.
