Striker aiming to show what he can do in Sheffield.
Connor Wickham is looking forward to his latest challenge after joining Sheffield Wednesday on loan.
Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill authorised a spell with the Yorkshire club in order to provide the England under-21 international with first-team action.
Wickham made his Wednesday debut as a 33rd-minute substitute against Derby County over the weekend, helping his side come from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw.
And the frontman, who has found senior opportunities limited on Wearside this season, is relishing the chance to get back in the groove and help the Owls up the Championship table.
Speaking to Wednesday’s official website before the draw with Derby, he said:
“I need to play games and after speaking to the manager and with the size of the club, I jumped at the chance to come here.
“It’s always important to have the manager’s backing and hopefully I can come here and make an impact.”
He added: “As a striker you want to score in every game. I want to come here and show everyone what I’m capable of.
“My confidence is high and hopefully I’ll add another dimension to the team.”
