Alfred on the club, the fans and his song!

Midfielder Alfred N’Diaye is very much enjoying what he has seen of the club and the city since sealing his January transfer window move to Sunderland.

N’Diaye told safc.com: “I’m liking being here at  Sunderland. I love playing at the Stadium of Light and I love meeting the fans; I’m very happy here.”

The 22 year-old Frenchman was thrust straight into the side after moving from Bursaspor in Turkey, where he made over 50 appearances in 18 months.

N’Diaye’s combative style of play instantly endeared him to the red and white army and in his first start for Sunderland he provided the cross to set up Steven Fletcher’s goal in the victory over Wigan at the DW Stadium.

His efforts in his first five games for the club haven’t gone unnoticed by fans, who already have a chant for the towering midfielder.

“To play in front of crowds of 40,000 is a great feeling,” N’Diaye continued.

“It makes me smile when I hear them sing about me - it’s the first time I’ve had a song!

“Supporters here love football – whenever they see me outside they’re so happy to see a footballer and have lots of love for the club.

“It makes me happy to be able to give them something back and sign autographs or have photographs taken.”
