Dossena ready to dig deep

Full-back geared up for Spurs clash.

Andrea Dossena is focussing on the positives from Sunderland’s recent run of games and believes they are more than capable of overcoming Tottenham at the weekend.

Sunderland have dominated for long periods in their previous two games, a home defeat to Chelsea and a draw at Aston Villa.

The Italian wants to see the Black Cats build on the work-rate the team showed in those outings  to come up with a result against Spurs.

“I see Saturday as a great chance for us. Tottenham are a different side to Chelsea, obviously, and I think if we play like we did against Chelsea we can beat them.” Dossena told

“If we remain focussed and keep the momentum going in our favour, there’s no reason why we can’t.”

The former Liverpool man also took a moment to pay tribute to the red and white army, insisting that the supporters’ backing is key to the team’s improving performances.

“The fans were right behind us [against Chelsea] and we could sense that on the pitch.

“They knew that we were playing with all our heart.

“It’s important that they know this and it’s important that we dig deep and give everything for the cause and for the fans.”
