Defender gives his post-match assessment.

Defender Phil Bardsley cut a disappointed figure following the 0-0 draw with Norwich.

Sunderland enjoyed the lion’s share of the possession but couldn’t find a way through the visitors’ defence.

Ki Sung-Yueng and Wes Brown came closest, with the latter heading against the post in the second half.

“We had the better of the possession and created some chances, but nothing clear cut,” Bardsley said.

“They were tough to break down, but sometimes during the game we gave the ball back to them too easily.

“We lost possession when maybe we could have kept it rather than shooting [from distance], and vice versa.

“It’s a disappointing result considering I thought we were the better team.

“We went into the game full of confidence after the midweek fixture and to not get all three points was disappointing.”
