Defender relishing SoL return.
Danny Rose says the topsy-turvy nature of the Barclays Premier League means Sunderland will have to be wary against an unpredictable Wigan side.
The Latics have lost their last two league games but recovered in midweek by easing past West Ham by a 4-1 scoreline in the Capital One Cup.
Sunderland, meanwhile, are looking for a win to break a run of four successive league draws.
We will be wary but we have to concentrate on ourselves. There’s no easy games in this league
- Danny Rose
“We need three points and I’m looking forward to getting back in front of the home fans,” said Rose, who is on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
“The atmosphere against Liverpool in the last home game was brilliant.
“Last season Wigan had a bad run of defeats and then picked up towards the latter stages of the season and went on a great run.
“You can’t take much from them from one week to the next – they will lose a game but then go on a good run.”
He continued: “We will be wary but we have to concentrate on ourselves. There’s no easy games in this league.
“For example, we played West Ham last week and they went to Swansea a couple of weeks previous and were beaten 3-0.
“Then West Ham won at home to Fulham, who themselves went on to beat West Brom.
“We have to concentrate on doing the things we’re good at, like getting the ball out wide to our wingers and getting Sess [Stephane Sessegnon] on the ball.”
