Forward pens short-term deal.
Sunderland have completed the signing of forward James McFadden on a short-term contract.
The 29-year-old was a free agent and could thus sign outside of the transfer window.
McFadden, who made eight appearances for Everton last season, has been handed squad number 11.
He has been capped 48 times by Scotland after beginning his career north of the border with Motherwell, scoring 32 goals in 70 games.
McFadden moved to Everton in September 2003 and spent almost five years at Goodison Park before joining Birmingham for around £4.75m.
He scored 14 goals in 88 games for Blues prior to returning for a second spell at Everton, for whom he featured twice against Sunderland last season.
