Striker called up for international duty.

Sunderland’s Steven Fletcher has been named in the Scotland squad for two upcoming World Cup 2014 qualifiers.

The striker, who has scored five Barclays Premier League goals so far this season, has made eight senior appearances for Scotland, netting once.

The Scots take on Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday 12th October (KO 7.45pm), potentially pitting Fletcher against Sunderland team-mate David Vaughan.

Then Craig Levein’s side will travel to the Continent to face Simon Mignolet’s Belgium at the Konig Boudewijn Stadium, Brussels, on Tuesday 16th October (KO 8.45pm).

Scotland sit fourth in the six-team Group A having drawn both of their qualification games so far.

Former Sunderland loanee Alan Hutton has also been named in the squad.
