Five changes for Black Cats

Martin O'Neill has made five changes for tonight's Capital One Cup tie against Middlesbrough at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats boss has named an attacking line-up with both Louis Saha and Stephane Sessegnon coming in for James McClean and Seb Larsson.

Meanwhile David Vaughan replaces Danny Rose with Jack Colback switching to left-back, while Phil Bardsley makes his first start of the season in place of Craig Gardner.

And there's also a change in goal as Keiren Westwood plays with Simon Mignolet on the bench. New signing James McFadden is also named amongst the substitutes.

Sunderland: Westwood, Bardsley, Colback, O'Shea, Cuellar, Cattermole (c), Vaughan, Johnson, Sessegnon, Saha, Fletcher.

Subs: Campbell, Wickham, McFadden, Kilgallon, Meyler, McClean, Mignolet.

Middlesbrough: Steele, Friend, Hoyte, Bikey, Hines, Leadbitter (c), Haroun, Ledesma, Bailey, McDonald, Miller.
