Defender targeting place in last eight.

Carlos Cuellar is expecting another competitive derby when Sunderland face Middlesbrough tonight.

The Spaniard featured against Newcastle last weekend and could figure against Wear-Tees rivals Boro in the Capital One Cup tonight.

Tonight’s winners will take their place in the last eight of the competition and Cuellar would love to have another shot at the final having played in the Wembley showpiece two years ago.

He was part of the Aston Villa side which lost 2-1 to Manchester United with Martin O’Neill in the Villa dugout.

His latest cup journey continues tonight and Cuellar is hoping to sample another derby atmosphere.

“We are all looking forward to the game and we want to play in the final of the competition,” he said.

“For us, this cup is very important. It is a derby game too and all derbies are really strong.

“For sure, the atmosphere will be good and hopefully we can go through.”
