Boss’s pre-Fulham injury update.
Martin O’Neill is taking it day by day on the injury front ahead of this weekend’s game at Fulham.
Phil Bardsley and captain Lee Cattermole both missed the defeat at Everton last week with injuries, while Keiren Westwood was forced to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad in midweek.
O’Neill isn’t yet sure if any of the trio will be fit for Sunday’s trip to Craven Cottage and will make further checks in the build-up the game.
“Keiren had to pull out of the Republic of Ireland squad with a thigh strain so he’s receiving treatment at this moment,” he told the press.
“We have a couple of injuries from last week - Phil Bardsley’s responding and with Lee Cattermole it’s a day-by-day business.
O’Neill also revealed that Steven Fletcher will also be the subject of a late check.
“He hasn’t been too well all week, plus the fact that his injuries are clearing up,” he explained. “He will be one of the players we’re looking at on a day-to-day basis.”
