Former Sunderland player joins club staff.
Sunderland AFC has appointed former player Gordon Chisholm as the club’s new international development coach.
Chisholm, who managed both Dundee United and Queen of the South following a playing career with Sunderland, Hibernian, Dundee and Partick Thistle, will work closely alongside marketing director Mike Farnan as the club looks to continue to build its profile internationally, both on and off the field.
His role will be to explore football opportunities overseas, forming a synergy with the club’s international marketing activities across a number of territories.
Mike Farnan said: “It’s fantastic to have someone of Gordon’s experience on board. As the club continues to grow, building a profile and a presence on a global platform takes on increasing significance and it’s vitally important that we explore and develop as many opportunities as possible, which Gordon will assist us with.”
Gordon Chisholm added: “To come to a club of this calibre is a wonderful opportunity. Helping Sunderland to enhance and develop its existing work overseas is something I’m hugely excited about and I can’t wait to get started in my new role.”
